Danny, it was great fun to SEE your book reviews. I liked the video approach with you flipping through the books. I have an earlier book of Dodson's but now I've got to have this one too. I didn't know Woody Guthrie drew. Thanks for sharing all these finds. And I got quite an unexpected laugh when you held up that journal I sent. I hope you have fun with it.

It's great fun to hear the traffic sounds in the background as Helen pointed out.

Another wonderful artist who shared the work of others during his own "dry spell" was Alfred Stieglitz, who's solely responsible for introducing to the U.S. the work of Picasso and Matisse (among many others) in his "Little Galleries" in NYC.

It's said that he didn't take a picture for eight years while doing this, opting instead to exhibit the work of European artists he thought we needed to see. It was a diversion at first, but soon became a passion in and of itself.

So you're working in a grand tradition here, Danny--using a period of your own creative gestation to help spread the work of others.

Can't wait to see where you'll go from here!

Thanks for the book recommendations. I really appreaciate your drawings and art in general and I think that a couple of your book recommendations could be a big help as I learn to draw. I'm a former ad agency account person and have always admired and envied the creative teams that I have worked with.

The book by the artist in a concentration camp reminded me of a made for TV movie Holocaust (1978) many years ago where James Woods played an artist in the camps. He used charcoal as I recall. It made a large impression on me that has lasted.

Loved the book reviews, especially because they have a lot of neat pictures! Reminded me of the Reading Rainbow when I was a kid!

Thanks for sharing your book finds. It was really helpful to watch you flip through the books -- almost as good as putting my own hands on them! Don't worry about the traffic noise, because it adds character and immediacy and all those juicy bits of real life.

I loved the book video! Great choices. You need to do this more often. It's much better than a review you would read in a newspaper. I like that you flip through the books, talk about them, and give us a glimpse into it. Wonderful job, Danny!
