"Magic" shipped

March 1, 2007

We just finished the first Crayola commercial and it has been pretty well received within the company. It was a little nerve wracking to make because we worked without a net: each of the children was first exposed to the product in front of a rolling camera and we just had to keep our fingers crossed and hope their responses would be magical. We were lucky and got a lot of great responses. Crayola will be posting a bunch of out takes from the shoot on their site in the next week or so. I'll post a link when they do.

Very charming. It just wouldn't have been the same if you tried to script it.

the energy of this ad rocks.
really, really great job on this one.
congratulations. (yeah!)

Nice work. Real kids and real kids art. Wonderful. As a person who has handed Crayola products to more people than I could count, I salute them and I salute you for a job well done!

I love it! Warms my heart to see commercials like these. The best part of it all is that the kids all look natural and not putting up an act. Lovveeellyy.

This is great - it makes me want to try them.

This commercial (and the product) is terrific. I actually thought of my good friend's daughter Elena and how much she would love it as I was watching it!

That commercial came out great! You were lucky to get all those awesome responses -- and it makes me want to get some of those markers; they look so fun!

WOW what a fun commercial. How could you go wrong with kids as the subject with a cool tool like that? You couldn't.
Wow.

Great commercial!!

That commercial is great! Makes me want to play, too!

Awesome! I love the little girl trying to look inside it. Love the images moving/pulsing across/on screen in the background, too. This turned out so cool.

Love the little girl looking for the colors in the marker! Great commercial! Love those markers!

Hey thats our super star Carley peeping into the Crayola marker. She was great in the ad, and talk about an effective campaign, when Carley heard my son was sad and missing her, she sent him her Crayola Explosion pack to cheer him up...now its his favorite hobby! lov u C.J.C from Auntie Selena

My daughter got booked this weekend to do her second commercial and while she was in holding introduced herself. Before she and her new friend, Alicia, went on set, they had bonded over my daughter's Crayola Explosions White. What a magical "ice-breaker"!
I'm so proud of you, mom!

Dear Mr. Gregory:

Thank you for posting my comment. I wasn't sure if it was going to be used or not as I did not refer to the "commercial" like everyone else. I have seen it and it comes across as "real" and "believable".

I am computer illiterate and through my own fault; I did not preview my comments before posting it. Forgive my blunder; I am new at this. My first time trying it at a friend's suggestion. I would prefer my last name "Chung" be deleted. It was never my intention to post our family name. I kind of would like to keep any hint of my daughter's identity as anonymous as possible, with your help, of course.

Could you please e-mail me to let me know if this is feasible or not? I apologize for the misunderstanding and hope for a favourable reply.

Sincerely,
Natalie Chung
