I like to draw complicated machinery in the streets. If buildings are my landscapes, trucks are my wildlife.

I drew this critter hurriedly and from my uptown balcony. Just as I finished, it pulled in its trunk, stowed its cones, and ambled off. But I got the drawing, which didn't suck.

One of the more perilous portions of my trek to the office each morning is crossing the cobbled stone stretch of 14th Street in the heart of the Meat Packing district. There's loads of construction, sidewalks are missing, detours abound and there are missing stop signs and traffic lights. I just had time to get the basic bits of this rig before its driver clambored back aboard and sailed away on the dense river of morning traffic.

Love the green background for the truck, as if you're out in the country or something. A great non-sequitor to draw our attention!

Danny: How in the world do you have time to sketch such a machine in the middle of what you describe is 14th St. in Manhattan at rush time??? I mean, where do you stand?

Danny,
My kind of drawings! Thanks for getting me jazzed about doing mechanical objects and not caveing (sp) into "but landscapes are soooo lovely." I like your line, "if buildings are my landscapes, trucks are my wildlife." Nice going!

I like these....and your words about them! The green on 14th is fresh tho I know that part of town can be EXTREMELY STINKY. U however, don't stink at all.

Love your wife's comments. She is too, too cute.
Here in Texas we call the septic tank brigade "Honey Wagons." It never occurred to me that y'all have them in the big city.
You can tutn the most mundane subject into a work of art. You were born with the 'eye' for it (got it from your dad), and you have mastered your hand/eye coordination through practice, practice, practice which equals perfection.

I like how the cones have a spash of orange.
