Richard, I love your journal. Just the kind I would love to keep. I wrote to you two years ago as three friends and I were going to visit England. We did, and I kept a travel journal of that experience. I sat out on a bench in cold strong winds to draw Stonehenge, among other things, and am so glad I did. Is your new journal specific for nature? mary beth

Thank you everyone who has written with encouraging comments about my new format for Wild West Yorkshire. I learnt my web page skills from 'web pages made easy' magazines and the new format goes against practically every bit of advice I ever took on board, but it does allow me to spend more time drawing and less time scanning and typing. We had Dan Price to stay for the weekend a month ago on his world tour and really he's responsible for the new look - I was impressed with the way he puts his 'Moonlight Chronicles' together using nothing more high tech than typing paper, a handful of Sakura pens, scissors and a glue stick. I've changed the way I'm working on my book as well. Nice to hear from you again Mary Beth, it's not so cold and windy in England at present, a perfect summer day today in fact. My new book, like my online journal is mainly natural history but of course with a smattering of geology and history (a Saxon/Viking Celtic-style cross which I couldn't resist drawing) plus any odd incidents which I think bring the landscape to life.
