First of all, I enjoy hearing your spoken voice. The podcast (like I even know what that really means) is an interesting concept. I found I poured a glass of wine, and sat and listened intently. Rather, than sometimes, reading your typed posts quickly. This time you spoke of finding your voice, in sketching and journaling. You tried a million things before tuning into sketching. Yet you still have the need to explore, cuz you're talking etching now--though it's an extension of sketching. I recently took a workshop with Ellen Kochansky, and she talked about focusing in on one material (in her case, ivory colored silk organza) and really, really exploring it. She simplified her materials/her medium, and continues to push and explore it. Like you've done with sketching and journaling. So, my long winded question is--Do I need to find my one material and stay with it? After listening to you, I thought about the physical parts of art I like best. I like to draw on transparent tissue or rice paper, color it in, and layer it in a collage. I like to sew with a needle and thread. I like color. People respond to my colors. I like using personal symbols and memories in my work. Okay, so where does this lead me? And, like you, I enjoying showing/sharing my work. My thoughts on this monday morning in April.
Love ya Danny,
Jane

Hi Danny, is there any way you can publish the podcast with a link directly to the audio file? My PC doesn't play well with the podcast publishing protocol used here -- can't get the 'cast to download (and I'm dying to hear it). Pretty please?
Love the books, BTW.
best,
Laura S.

How lovely to be able to settle back in a comfy chair and listen to this - love the easter eggs image too! And you've even got an itunes listing - wow.
It was good to hear how you have tried lots of different things, love to experiment and have had moments of self-doubt. So many artists seem so full of themselves, so convinced of their own greatness, its so reassuring to listen to someone who's drawing, writing, blogging for the sheer love of it.
Can't wait for the next instalment!

Danny, the podcast is great! I had downloaded onto iPod and then gotten busy. Yesterday I was on a flight home and there you were! It was great to hear your voice. I appreciate that you tried many things before you found drawing as a main path. I love that you continue to experiment and push yourself. Podcasting is just the latest effort. Please don't keep us waiting long for Podcast #2.
