I absolutely love that sentence. Particuarly the word "spare." Did it just come to you, or did you have to chew that one out?
Patti is a super hero. I would have dissolved into a puddle half way through the first contraction.

The best segment you have written so far. So real and honest.
Hats off to Patti, what an unbelievable woman. I hope I can remain half as strong as her when that time comes for me.
