Jack and I did a fun exercise this morning. We drew 45 minute-long drawings in 45 minutes, pounding through reams of recycled paper.
Jack sat in our big red chair and I swiveled around at my desk. We drew through observation until Jack begged to be able to use his imagination as his model. Here are a few of the pages we filled. It was great fun and a great way to start of my 45th year.
My lovely niece, Morgan, suggested this to me in this morning's birthday call (her dad, Mike, also has his birthday today. Happy Birthday, MIke!).

Happy Birthday, Danny! As always I like your drawings and I love the way Jack is drawing from imagination. It makes me think of comic book sketches.
Enjoy your day!

Happy Birthday, Dan. I love your blog, and books. I also read Dan Price. Been reading him since the 1990's, (late?) Anyway, I love your style of drawing, and living. I hopefully will one day be able to slow it down enough to FINALLY get the drawing pad out and practice. I think if more people slowed down their pace and drew, they'd be less angry. Simplistic living. It's what's gonna be in my wallet, once I leave Connecticut, that is. HAhaha! Have fun...keep it real.
After reading your book & your blog I'm looking forward to visiting New York again and seeing it from the sketchbook's point of view. I should be drawing my own city more, too, but it's somehow easier being a tourist.
By the way, Jack is good! He's his father's son all right :)
Happy Birthday. I've been reading your book, a little each night to savor each page. But I have to say, truthfully, I could do without the cross-hatching. I love contour drawing.
A record of my exploration into all aspects of drawing, illustrated journaling, creativity, and the inspiring aspects of art. By the author of "Everyday Matters," "The Creative License", and "An Illustrated Life" and other books.
