It's hot and I'd rather be drawing or watching a movie or eating another cupcake so let me just jot down a number of things.
Had a rare time drawing on the Bowery this morning with Tom K. It was hot, we sweated, we enjoyed.
I am using a couple of new Rapidoliners I picked up in Rome: a .70 which makes fat juicy out lines and a .20 which has me doing lovely little scratchy lines like I haven't done in months.
Tom turned me on to
James Jean, a fantastic drawer whose
book
I just ordered from Amazon.
I'm having fantasies about getting a big thick stack of serious watercolor paper and taking it over to the Hasidic bookbinder in Chinatown to make myself a dream drawing book for my impending birthday.
Everyone was unbelievably nice and helpful in sharing their favorite inspirational magazines and I have sent all of the lists to Kelly, my editrix, so hopefully someone will hear of this book when it finally comes out. I am continuing to polish and polish the final pages.
Richard Bell just got a copy of the galleys and was very complimentary. I respect him so much that his endorsement is very valuable.
D.Price tells me he just got the first real live copy of his new book, "Radical SImplicity". He also says he's going to make a special offer to Everyday Matters readers on the upcoming 50th issue of his 'zine, Moonlight Chronicles. Stay posted.
I have told my pal Rosecrans that I don't want to illustrate future installments of Peanut on the Morning News. I am still waiting for his response but the next chapter will be up tomorrow (or not, if he gets really mad).
I managed to slightly re-sprain my ankle while testing out desk chairs today. How lame.
I am almost finished with a new round of commercials, the ones I was filming in Chicago, Rome and New York. They'll debut on the US Open. We are also filming some others this weekend with the director of the new film, "JuneBug". They'll be on in September.
I don't seem to be able to open any files in Photoshop except via the 'Browse' menu. Weird.
As of today, Jack can do manuals on his skateboard.
That's about it for today. Stay cool.

Curious--where is the Hasidic bookbinder in Chinatown?

Kate:
I was referring to Henry Bookbinding Co. near the Williamsburg Bridge.
Your pal,
Danny
