Hello:
My new book, The Creative License: Giving yourself permission to be the artist you truly are is now in bound galley form, ready to head off to magazines that will write about and review it pending its official publication in January.
Please tell me which magazines you read for inspiration and instruction in any and all things creative. Artist's Sketchbook and Ready Made came immediately to mind but I'm sure there are dozens of others. The book will be published worldwide so I am also very interested in non-US publications. Please post here or write to me (danny@dannygregory,com) and share your ideas ASAP.
Thanks so much for helping my new book reach as many potential EDM group members as possible!

American Artist magazine also publishes a "Drawing" special edition which this would be a good fit for. Also, Watercolor Magic (Artist's Mag pub) is another great mag.
Looking forward to your book!
Thanks!
Nancy

Hi Danny. Fiber Arts and Threads ( I think both are published by Tauton Press and they do some kind of wood working magazine also that might fit the description of creative stuff.)

I am so excited about this book and can't wait to see it reviewed and published. I think I've already pre-oredered from amazon. I subscribe to two pubs from the U.K.
1. A & I (the old Artists and Illustrators)
2. The Artist
and in the U.S.
3. Watercolor
4. Watercolor Magic
I also pick up American Artist etc. when they look interesting. Less frequently but occasionally I read Raw Art etc.

It might officially be a "digital technology" magazine, but MAKE (http://www.makezine.com/) is very inspirational to plenty of peoples' creative side.

How is it possible no-ones mentioned the triumverate of How, ID and Print! How and Print specifically have a lot of info on illustration and creativity. They may be more about commercial design and illustration, but I find that peering into what people at the top's of their fields are up to gets me rared up and inspired.

try Publishers Weekly, Library Journal, and Booklist. Magazines where librarians review are great. I work in a large public library and we do not have any of your books -- i'm having to get everyday matters via interlibrary loan!

How about Legacy? Your books and journals are definitely in the category of family history and daily living -- I think Legacy would love it .. also Expressions ...

Hi Danny,
Would love to have a look at your book myself, sounds great. I enjoy looking at Australian Artist Magazine, which you can see here http://australianartist.artmagazine.com.au/ and also Artist's Palette sometimes, which you can chech out here http://artistspalette.artmagazine.com.au/.
I don't get much chance to see many other mags mentioned, except in the newsagents, because the price is out-of-this-woman's price range once they bring them over here to Australia. Hope this is useful. ;-)

Magazines that inspire me on a regular basis:
Quilting Arts
American Craft
Artizine
Fiber Arts
An artist in any field, though, always benefits by looking at all kinds of art whether in galleries, shops or publications. Your book would be at home with any of us, I'm sure. Congratulations - how exciting!

Hi Danny,
I am sure that folks have got the art magazines covered, others that might be useful...well, there is not a better magazine for supporting people finding their true way in life than Oprah. Also lots of folks on the elder side are exploring their creativity, how about AARP mag. Will try and think of some others that might be interested. Best wishes, Rachel

I would add two to the many great mags already mentioned; these also help my creative juices to get flowing: Art on Paper, & Orion.

I read anything with a good article, but tend to gravitate towards Art in America and Modern Painters (UK).
You may also want to consider:
BOMB Magazine covers artists of all types - www.bombsite.com.
Art on Paper, which has a great issue this month called Letters to a Young Artist. www.artonpaper.com.
