How about those Knicks?

July 5, 2005

My editor tells me this is the best ever installment of Peanut, my memoir on fatherhood. If you'd care to judge his judgment, learn about my uncle's parrot, my stepfather's haberdashery, and my degree of enthusiasm for organized sports, organized religion and other people's babies check it out.

well it's hard to pin down a "best" when they are so many great ones to choose from, but i will have to side with your editor in saying that this one is really really great. thank you for sharing your incredible talents.

reading your story was the highlight of my otherwise mundane work day. thanks for providing an excellent distraction. looking forward to the next installment.

Once again, a wonderful installment of The Peanut. I do hope that it will eventually become a solid, hold-in-my-hand, paper smelling book as it would be a shame for such wit to vanish into the big black hole of cyberspace.

I enjoyed the connection of reading the mention of Australia, however you really have shown your ignorance (lack of interest?) in sport by the mention of 'Australian rules rugby'. Rugby is a football game invented by the Poms (Aussie endearing slang word for the English). Australian Rules football, on the other hand, is a game played only in Australia and is more closely related to the Gaelic Football of Ireland than anything else. It's a bit like mixing up American football with soccer - assuming that you understand THAT difference.

Still, as a devoted fan from 'Down Under', I will forgive you even this faux pas.

Wonderful.

i checked it out. and enjoyed the read. brilliant.

OMG! YOU are THE Danny Gregory... I didn't fully look at your url, name, etc. etc. No WONDER I loved your pen and wash drawings. Will order the book asap... (would still like EDM yahoo url, though!

From my own, personal point of view, this week's installment is indeed the best yet. This opinion probably stems not from an objective perception of talent, but from my self-centered perspective on the "peanut" my wife and I are presently expecting. I am a man, much like yourself, who hopes for a girl for reasons much like your own. (BTW, it's rather disappointing to read in your bio that you live with your wife and SON! Give away the ending, why don't you?)
Anyway, we had our first appointment today, had the ultrasound, saw the heartbeat; and I'm all in awe. When we began trying for this baby your series suddenly started to appear on TMN. What a pretty coincidence!
Thanks so much for these stories. You realize, of course, that you're going to have to continue with some sort of sequel, "The Cabbage" or something. Those of us living it as we read will need your insight into infanthood.
