Went there and wanted to do this..found my box..started making a hat. And ya know what?
I stopped myself..even though this was something cool, fun and creative. I thought about it and my motivations. And I think I wanted to do it to impress people. ..not anything major..just "ohh..I can make mine really cool!"
You've taught me that this kind of thing is NOT what it's about. Everyday does matter..and so, instead, I started on a self portrait that I've been putting off for weeks. I love it and gonna continue it today. It's all about priorities, and focus and paying attention...so maybe I'll doodle a box later..for fun. But maybe not.
Thanks Danny!
What a cool link! Reminds me of my art school days and it's a german link, too!
Love your photo with my favourite tools: the COPICs! Haven't used mine on a project in a while (ran out of marker paper which is quite expensive here)but maybe it is about time again...let me try to find a box...
Ha! Easy, we're moving next week anyways, so tons of boxes sat around here. Heaven! But time is tight, so it might take me a while to finish this project.
Yours looks good so far!
In your search for a Ronald Searle look, have you considered a dip pen? Something like a Gillott 303 which has a variable weight depending on how much pressure you apply gets something akin to his linework although, of course, he's the master.
