I decided to make my struggle to design this cover less public than last time. I had all sorts of slick and contrived ideas but in the end decided to keep it simple. This is based on a drawing I did last summer of Julie Dermansky's studio, embellished with some other creative props, and I like it just fine. So does everyone at my publisher —look for it in stores near you next spring.

Congratulations on your new book and its cover.I like the cover design and I love the title. I would buy this book as soon as I read the word "permission" and your recognition of the self restraint we suffer every day. I have gained a lot of insight into the creative process through your blog and I am anticipating even more in your book. Is there any chance of signed copies being available for a pre-sale item? Thank you for letting us come along on your journey. Patricia

The thing I like about your covers, is that they don't intimidate people who feel they are one step above doodlers. It's inviting. Congrats!

Anyway keep up the terrific sharing...I love it.

Perfect cover. Far better than the reprint of EM comps.

That cover would make me buy it if I saw it on a shelf in a bookshop. Will it come to Australia eventually? Can we pre-order it?

What extraordinary pleasure these drawings give me. I hope you won't mind the comparison, but your drawing possesses the same magic that has drawn me to James Stevenson since I was a kid. One never quite knows where the line will go, but it always turns out to be the right place.
Thanks. (And I'm buying Everday Matters.

DearDanny ,
The cover is wonderful, very you. But i'm worried. You haven't posted for a while and I'm hoping the old job is eating you up again. If you give up youir inspiring blog (I've logged on each day for many months now) thats ok, but what else are you giving up. I think you posted your fears so we could all give you a little nudge.
