Write Me

One down

December 24, 2004

I was going to write some big 'how far we've come' entry but I'll just leave it at this:
One year ago today I wrote my first entry on this blog. I have thought of chucking it a hundred times since but, by and large, I'm glad I've kept it up.
It has brought me loads of good pals around the world and been a good testing ground for those half-baked ideas that would ordinarily end up in a cupboard or drawer.
Thanks for stopping by and setting my ass straight now and then.

Danny - I find it hard to believe it's only been a year. Thank you for being such an inspiration. May 2005 take you even further in the direction you want to go.

Very warm wishes from a chilly Wales

Michael

Thanks for sharing your drawings.

Danny,
I just wanted to thank you for not abandoning your blog. It's the most inspiring thing I've come across in a while. At my soul-crushing job, it has become the highlight of my day, to check and see when and if you have a new post. And I'm determined to pick up pen and paper and start drawing again in the new year.
Happy New Year.

it's been good...

Thanks back at 'ya.

-Joy

I hope you and yours have and are still having a wonderful holiday season Danny, thanks for your inspiration. Here's to 2005!

happy holidays! i've only recently come across your site, but i adore the drawings and enjoy looking at them. keep up the great work!

Congratulations.

And your ass looks pretty darn straight from here.

Oh my! I really can't believe it's only been a year...your site has been such an encouragement and inspiration to me, it's been life changing, without a doubt. Thank you Danny!! I've loved giving Everyday Matters to friends and inspiring them (hopefully) as well. Much success, happiness and creativity in the year to come.

As others have said, your blog (and discussion group) has been a constant source of motivation for me - without it my output would've been far, far less. So looking forward to seeing your efforts in the New Year.

Well, here's a bit of a story...on Christmas Eve I was in a Books a Million in West Virginia (enroute from Pa. to Virginia with my husband who was unexpectedly in the hospital for a week and subsequently needed to walk every hour of our drive home for the holidays- big bookstores present wonderful walking opportunities. As I was perusing the "art" section I saw 2 copies of Everyday Matters and exclaimed to my husband about "my pal Danny's book". Bottm line is that a man nearby heard me and bought both copies as gifts. I think I should hang around more copies and you could buy some more pencils with the proceeds. The inspiration you've provided in the past year is priceless. I join those who have thanked you for not abandoning the list when you have so many other opportunities. I am about to finish my first journal in which I drew/painted everyday for the past 366 days. Would I have done it without you and the list? Maybe but maybe not. Cheers, Merry, Merry and Happy next year.
Dana

Thanks for a great year Danny. Your work touches and inspires more people than you'll ever know. I'm glad you have continued to blog despite the times you've wanted to strangle your computer. All the best to P and J for the new year.
From your mate, Trevor Romain

so very glad you have stuck around...
thanks for all you shared here....

Got E.M and Moonlight Chronicles for Christmas this year! Deeelighted with both. Without you there wouldn't be plans for a special sketch crawl on my pal's 40 acres in East San Diego County in March. It is the only word that really describes what you and P.L have done for us....inspire. Keep posting, you start my day. Happy New Year to all the E.M crowd!

I, too, want to extend gratitudes for your blog. I visit daily for inspiration. I started my own business this year and feel very disconnected from my art work. Visiting with you is like having a friend in the next office. Thanks so very much and keep up the good work. God works in mysterious ways and I truly believe He is gifting you greatly.

Thank you Danny for a year of inspiration and good cheer.

Keep Rapidolining, old boy.

You are a rock star.

It's been just a pleasure to read and admire your drawings. Have a wonderful new year.

Danny,

Thank you for the inspiration you have provided, and continue to provide, myself and my students.

We thank you and wish you a very satisfying year.

Regards,
Dan

Danny, I've been visiting your blog and getting inspired by it; even started sketching. So thank you. I'm buying your book.

Yes..thanks for all your work and thoughts posted here over the year, because you are one of those people who helped me re-discover my joy in art, after a long period of feeling directionless, confused, lackluster and actually sad about not having the desire to create much.

Your enthusiasm and insistence about the importance of waking up and finding a muse, a voice, an appreciation for the world around us, and true grit, heart, observation & vision put down in journal form, brought me out of my own head and into a community of "like-minded" artists. We all struggle in our own ways, yet in the same ways.
I appreciate you so much as a mentor, and just have to say keep it up! You are a beautiful, talented and pivotal person to so many!
