Jerusalem Journal revisited

July 1, 2004

My favorite online magazine, the Morning News, has taken my Jerusalem Journal and given it new life. I did some revisions to the text, the images have been rescanned, cleaned up and polished and the whole thing looks like a legitimate piece of journalism.
Thanks loads, Rosecrans and Andrew.

i love the scetches from jerusalem which have been shown on your blog. iv'e been there past january and i loved this city with its magic atmosphere. Though, seems a bit strange that on the cover shown, there are no hebrew letters..

Don't look for problems, now.
The map is in Hebrew.

I lived in Jerusalem in '95, and this journal makes me wish I started sketching long before I did ('00). You're right, too -- the paintings spiffed up nicely and look fine fine fine over at TMN. Made me homesick, even. Made me miss that monochromatic, rock-and-sand skyline.

congratulations, danny :D

i love the fact that you have the abliity to turn chaos, tragedy and anything disturbing (patti's accident, tornados turning farms upsidedown, the israeli/palestinian conflict, pets passing, etc) magically into something beautiful.

the silver lining. the midas touch. you are definately an optimist.

that's a gift that influences me daily... thank you.

it looks fantastic there. nice one.

amazing!

PLEASE take me off your email list! Thanks.

Thanks for the update. It is bittersweet, and your honesty is remarkably refreshing. I haven't been to Jerusalem for more than 20 years but I too likened it to Florence. Jewels! I wish it were possible to wear it with less pain but it has become a crown of thorns.

Your Jerusalem Journal has charming drawings. I just find it very sad that you feel no pull to this land of our forefathers and foremothers and no understanding of the fact that life goes on in spite of knowing that our Arab cousins wish to annihilate us. We would be happy to live together but we are not prepared to be destroyed. Nor do you show any understanding of the incredible numbers of our brethern who have arrived destitute and unprepared for modern life and who have slowly been brought into the mainstream. Nor do you appreciate that the kibbutz too is entitled to change if that is what they want or need.
