Write Me

Most likely to be unlikely

June 12, 2004

Somewhat embarrassingly, my former high school has conferred up on me the dubious distinction of being the alumnus of the month. If you always wanted to know more about my French teacher's escape from the Nazis, my Engels study circle, my desperate attempts to be accepted, or my advice to the Yoot of today, raise your hand and wait to be called upon.

I like the advice at the end. I wish someone had given me advice like that when I was teenager, would have saved a lot of time and effort later.
Oh well, we live and learn.

Marxist study circle - wow! What about the acting - do you still do that? I hope so.

that's awesome! so what was the Portable Art class?

My acting days, alas, ended with the lead in Friedrich Durenmmatt's The Physicists, Spring 1982. Since then I have, to mixed reviews, played only the role of an adult.

Portable Art was my successful attempt to get the administration to spring for $100 or so for a button making machine. A dozen kids signed up to have me show them how to make art that could be made in to buttons and we all walked around wearing them. Most Art History texts omit this minor movement.

My Friedrich Engels study group was not really a school sanctioned activity but was advised by our Marxist art teacher. Soon afterwards, the USSR fell apart.

*raises hand*
Could you please tell us a little more about your French teacher's escape from the Nazis?!!

Hi Danny, I was really excited to read that you lived in Australia at some stage in your life. It's nice to know that we own a little bit of your development. Please tell us more.

A Friends school produced you! The Quakers follow me everywhere.I'll have to stop running.
