While I was drawing this, after dropping Jack off at school and sitting under the Washington Arch with its two newly restored statues of the general/president/slave owner/lumberjack, I heard something soft land on the ground ahead. Then, through the proscenium of the Arch, a man strode onto the stage - a 30ish black man in a tuxedo,
sans the jacket, which he'd just thrown at the arch. He yelled at the top of his lungs: "Fuck you, George Washington!" Fuck
you!" Then he picked up his jacket and strode offstage.
Another morning in New York City.

Thanks, Jasmine.
I drew the lines with my Rapidoliner and inked in the trees with Dr. Martin's.

Indeed great stuff Danny....about the Rapidoliner..still the .25?? Is it the same one used for the Edinburgh drawing???
I love them, the drawings...and of course your comments...you are a rapidfire individual...the beat goes on. How about Chicago Magazine...listed among the best a fact that baffles me as a near Chicago resident....
My current pen of choice is the Bic Z4, waterproof and a needle point...similar to the Pilot Precise V5...my former favorite. If you have not tried the Bic...give it a try. You might like it. It was the only pen I needed on my recent trip to Prague, Vienna and Budapest. Found it at Office Max...still not available at the simple places like the drug store.

I love this sketch. Having recently returned from NYC, having walked down the very street depicted whilst out shopping, I'm struck how the drawing contains its connotations so well. For you, the guy in his tux. For me, a joyous slice of summer in New York with friends. For someone else....
